Praised for her “wonderfully appealing lyric [mezzo] soprano” (Opera Today), Elizabeth Sarian, mezzo soprano, recently won The Sandra Warfield Prize in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, which brought her to the National Semifinals at the Metropolitan Opera. Elizabeth also recently joined the Opera Theater of Saint Louis’ Gerdine Young Artist Program to cover the titular role in Carmen and make her debut as Mama in Stewart Wallace’s Harvey Milk Reimagined.
An alumna of The Atlanta Opera Studio (2018-2020), Elizabeth recently returned to Atlanta as Nireno (and Sesto cover) in Giulio Cesare. Past credits with Atlanta include Flora in La Traviata, The Page in Salome, Tisbe in La Cenerentola and Sister Lillianne in Dead Man Walking. During the summers of 2018 and 2019, Elizabeth was a member of the prestigious Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer Program, where she covered Pastuchnya in Jenůfa and was featured in the Apprentice Scenes Showcases. Elizabeth is also an alumna of the Central City Opera Bonfils-Stanton Artist Training Program and the Opera North Resident Artist Program where she sang the title role in Dido and Aeneas.
Ms. Sarian holds her Graduate Performance Diploma and Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from The Peabody Institute at John Hopkins University. Performance credits at Peabody include the title role in Massenet’s Chérubin and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro.
